MEINERTZHAGEN, COL. R. - 'ARMY DIARY 1899 - 1926'

Oliver & Boyd, 1960.

301 pp. with 25 coloured maps and 39 photo plates.

'ARMY DIARY 1899 - 1926'

Original decorated cloth, gilt in D/W.

An unusually fine copy - the spine of the wrapper is often faded but this copy is very bright.

The remarkable diary covering Colonel Meinertzhagen’s war service in East Africa, where he was Intelligence Officer to General Smuts, and in Palestine where he was Intelligence Officer to Allenby.

The diary forms a full account of the East African campaign, including the fight at Tanga- "The most disgraceful defeat a British army has ever suffered."

Price £175.00
