About Us
The Marrin's rare book shop was first established in 1947 at Folkestone in Kent by John's father, George Marrin, a veteran of the First World War.

Assisted by his two sons, John and Patrick, the business became very successful and developed a much respected reputation for the supply of rare books to many happy customers all over the world.

John Marrin

In 2003 John established his own shop -
'John Marrin Rare Books'
moving to
the picturesque village of Ford in north Northumberland, close to his home in the Borders.

Maintaining his interest in our military history,  inspired by his Father, John specializes in the resourcing and supply of books, ephemera, paintings, posters and prints from the 1914-1918 First World War.

He has added a few other subjects of interest with equal enthusiasm, including Gardening, Fishing and Cookery as well as the delightful late 19th and early 20th century Children's Books.

All enquiries from customers old and new, are welcomed and visitors to the shop will find it a fascinating and irresistible place in which to browse!

The Shop is Open
Monday to Saturday
10.00am to 5.00pm.

John can be contacted by e-mail at - john@johnmarrin.com
or by telephone on - 01890-820500

John also publishes a quarterly catalogue listing the available stock.

In his spare time he enjoys gardening and walking the Cheviot Hills and countryside in the Scottish Borders, accompanied by his collie dog 'Strider'.

John is married to the well known embroidery artist, Katriina Hyslop.
